Why This Book has Value:
The Fault in Our Stars is a novel by author John Green. The
story follows the main character, 16 year old Hazel Grace Lancaster, as she
battles cancer, Hazel attends a church support group for cancer survivors, and
she meets a boy that is one year older than her, Augustus Waters. Augustus the
second main character had a type of cancer that he defeated; this caused him to
lose his leg.
Starting the first day they met, they became inseparable. Augustus
and Hazel both share each other’s deep thoughts to each other, and favorite
books throughout the entire book. This leads into one of Hazel’s dreams to find
out an ending of a book that leaves both now confused. Augustus joins Hazel's
pursuit of the book's author and makes that dream come true to meet Peter Van Houten
in person, so Hazel can get the answers that she needs. Augustus fly’s Hazel,
her mom and himself to Amsterdam where the author lives, to talk with him in
person. The rest of the book proceeds to their destiny with each other as they
love each other and enjoy each other’s company as long as they have together.
This book has its many attributes; both main characters grow
tremendously in their own unique ways, making this book very meaningful. Hazel
is a very strong person and so is Augustus but they realize that life is full
of adventure and opportunities to take so take them and don’t waste them. I
have also learned from this book that “yes” it is okay to be strong but when
you are strong to the point of pushing everything and everybody away that is when
you need to let go and let life live. This novel does not really target towards
a particular audience group. This book I think is meant for anybody and
everybody who wants a book with deep and real meanings that will tie into real
life occasions.
The theme and plot of this Novel is very powerful and I would
definitely recommend this book to anybody who would like to hear from a
different perspective when you’re at your last wits end in life.
This seems like a very inspiring book that has great life lessons. It is a book that I would like to read and your blog furthers my want to read this book.
